I feel the ultimate conflict within the story are the two brothers coming together to understand and communicate with each other. Why was it controversial?
Sonnys impulsive nature and the narrators callous attitude can actually be explained by the plot of the story wherein the parents of the narrator fails to take care of them and they were just left to their own devices.
